After years of prayer and planning, and a year of construction, Southwest Christian High School is now operating out of a brand new campus on Bavaria Road in Chaska!
Leading the Way is the building and capital campaign theme for Southwest Christian High School's new campus. This theme speaks to God's call upon SWCHS for leadership in academic excellence, Biblical worldview education, and discipleship of our youth. God has also been leading the way in His faithful provision for SWCHS, in a steadily growing enrollment as well as the new location. The Bavaria Road campus and expanded programming will provide opportunities for many more students to grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision calls for a long range 10 year multi-phase plan. Phase I of the building project began in 2006 when SWCHS started searching for property for our new campus. On July 20, 2011, SWCHS closed on the purchase of 29 acres of land located at the SE quadrant of Hwy 212 and Bavaria Road in Chaska. Now the first phase of construction is complete and school is underway.
The state-of-the-art school has 63,000 square feet of classroom and administrative offices, a large multi-purpose commons area, media/student center, music and practice rooms, art and science rooms, and a large two-stage gymnasium. The new gym provides bleacher seating for 585 people, two full size basketball courts and three full-sized volleyball courts. Thanks to an incredible lead gift and the anticipated proceeds from the sale of our current buildings, we have approximately two-thirds of our funding secured. The Leading the Way campaign seeks to raise the additional funds needed to complete this part of the building project. As enrollment grows, the long term plans for SWCHS include additional athletic fields for student and community use, establishment of the infrastructure needed for distance learning and a 3-year entrepreneurial tuition offsetting program for students. They also include a second gymnasium, a Performing Arts Center, classroom space and expansion of the science and engineering programs.
